Sign up free, pick a card type (guardian, video gift, business card…), fill in the content and you're done — you get a dedicated URL right away. Free plan includes 3 cards of any type.

Enable notifications (a must for guardian cards)

Protection comes from instant notifications when someone taps. Add the app to your home screen and allow notifications — especially important on iPhone, where notifications require the home-screen app.

Write NFC on Android (3 steps)

  1. 1 Open the app in Chrome and go to the card's editor page
  2. 2 Tap "Write NFC" (allow the NFC permission on first use)
  3. 3 Hold the NFC patch to the center back of your phone until you see "✅ Written"

No response? Check that NFC is on (Settings → Connections → NFC), try a different angle, and keep away from metal. Editing card content later never requires rewriting the NFC.

Write NFC on iPhone (with the free "NFC Tools" app)

  1. 1 On the card editor page, tap "Write NFC" and copy the card URL shown
  2. 2 Download the free "NFC Tools" app and open the "Write" tab
  3. 3 Tap "Add a record" → choose "URL / URI" → paste the URL → OK
  4. 4 Tap "Write" and hold the patch near the top of your iPhone (by the camera) until "Write complete"

Due to Apple restrictions, Safari can't write NFC directly — but once written, the card taps perfectly on any phone, including iPhones. The free version of NFC Tools is all you need.

Add to Home Screen + enable notifications on iOS (a must for guardian cards)

  1. 1 Open app.omipoka.com in Safari and log in
  2. 2 Tap the Share button → "Add to Home Screen"
  3. 3 From then on, open the app **from the home-screen icon** and allow notifications when prompted

On iPhone, web notifications only work after adding to the Home Screen — the "notify me on every tap" protection depends on this step.

Frequently asked questions

How do OMIPOKA cards work?
Every card links to a cloud page. Anyone can tap the NFC (or scan the QR) with their phone to open it and see what you've set up; guardian cards also notify your family instantly with the tap location. No battery, no app to install — works on both Android and iPhone.
How many cards are free? What if I need more?
Sign-up includes 3 free cards — any type, all core features, no expiry. Need more? Single-card purchases are coming soon, and buying an NFC patch from OMIPOKA also adds 1 card to your quota.
If I edit my card, do I need to rewrite the NFC?
No! The NFC only stores your card link; all content lives in the cloud. Save your changes and the very next tap shows the new content. Moving house, changing phone numbers, swapping videos — just edit in the app.
How long does an NFC patch last?
We use NTAG-series chips rated for about 10 years of data retention and 100,000+ reads. The chip is passive — no battery, no charging — so it practically never wears out in normal use.
How do I write my card to NFC?
Android: open the card editor in Chrome, tap "Write NFC", hold the patch to the back of your phone — done in a second. iPhone: due to Apple restrictions, use the free "NFC Tools" app — copy your card URL, paste it in the Write tab, takes about 3 minutes to learn. Once written, any phone can tap it.
Does a guardian card track location like an AirTag?
They work differently — and complement each other. An AirTag is a Bluetooth tracker with continuous location; a guardian card reports a precise location at the moment someone taps it and notifies your family, while showing no personal contact details to the finder. Can I turn off GPS collection from finders?
Yes. In your guardian card's privacy settings you can disable "allow finders to share location".
Can I delete a card?
Yes. Open the card editor, tap "⋯" in the top right and choose delete. The NFC will need to be rewritten to a new card before it can be used again.
Can public pages be password-protected?
Public pages are currently open by design — that's what lets a passer-by help instantly, with no account and nothing to install. Restricted-access viewing is on our roadmap.
